OVERFLOW...

Come and meet the artists Jill Downen and Charles Gick at our gallery opening and reception on July 7th, 2006 from 7 to 10pm. Jill Downen is visiting Richmond from St. Louis, Missouri and is known for producing enormous interior landscapes that make reference to the human body and architecture. Jill Downen will also be holding a lecture on Thursday, July 6th at 3pm at the VCU Fishbowl - Room 301 in the Fine Arts Building at 1000 W. Broad Street, Richmond, VA.

Charles Gick, visiting Richmond from
West Lafayette, Indiana creates multi-media

"vanishing contemporary rural space
and the struggles of the human communication".

Add links will travel

Please send links to your website or artblog! It is easy to add links that aren't already included here or on one of the blog links posted below. It is an on going process since blogs come and go.
If you click on a link and it is dead please let us know so we can check to see if it is a typo or if the address is no longer valid.

Go Georgianne!

Georgianne Stinnett has been named a finalist for this year's Trawick Prize, the Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards. There are 14 finalists in all. Fingers crossed...

See the little blue bar at the very bottom of the page?

I've installed a stat counter for our blog. It shows not only how many hits our blog is getting, but also the search terms that have led people to the blog, how long they stayed, where they are from, how many are repeat visitors and how many are unique and other information too. It records the last 100 hits on the site for free. I enabled the controls so that everyone can see - just press the stat counter button. Big thanks to Martin from anaba.blogspot.com for showing me how to do this.
So far we've had visitors from Spain, Australia and India!

Current Show: Believing is Seeing and Images in Light

Believing is Seeing: Alyssa C. Salomon and Images in Light: Ted Victoria are both featured at 1708 Gallery from June 2nd til July 1st, 2006. Salomon utilizes 19th century process such as daguerreotype, cyanotype and salted paper prints, while Victoria exploits the principles of the camera without even using one. (I took that straight from the press release!)
I love talking to Alyssa about her work - it is evident how much she searches and strives and how much she loves her media - what she can do with light, shadow and chemicals on paper is wizardry.
Anyone else have links to photos of the opening or other reviews to post in the comments or any feedback on exhibition?
